This same rule regarding where to file a family law case applies regardless of marital status.
So, like in the example above, if you are the unmarried parent of a child and you and the other
parent live in Sanford, your Sanford child custody, child support, modification, paternity, or
other type of family law case, would typically be filed with the Seminole County Court.

Family Law Help?
Sanford, Florida
The city of Sanford was founded by Henry Shelton Sanford. Sanford was a lawyer, a
businessman, and an American diplomat.
Sanford began his work as a diplomat when he was appointed Secretary of the American
Legation in St. Petersburg in 1847. Sanford subsequently held a number of other diplomatic
posts including one in Frankfurt, Germany, and another in Paris, France. Then, in 1861,
Sanford became President Lincoln's first diplomatic appointment when Sanford was
appointed the United States Minister to Belgium, a post Sanford maintained until 1869.
He founded the town of Sanford with his purchase of the 23 square mile "Sanford Grant" in
1870. Sanford then built two hotels, the Sanford House and the Monroe House, which
contributed to the growth of Sanford. And, in 1877, the city of Sanford was incorporated.
In 1913 the Florida Legislature established Seminole County with Sanford as the county
seat. Today, over fifty three thousand residents call Sanford their home.

If you are looking for a Sanford Divorce Attorney or
a Sanford Family Law Attorney... We Can Help You
Family Law cases, which may include divorce, child custody, child support, and other
family law matters, are typically filed in the county in which the parties live. Therefore, if
you and your spouse live in Sanford, your Sanford divorce, alimony, child custody, child
support, or other family law case, would typically be filed with the Seminole County
Court, because Sanford is located in Seminole County.
Remember, it is the county of residence not the city of residence which determines where a
divorce or other type of family law case should be filed. Therefore, if you live in Sanford and
the other parent resides in a different city which is also in Seminole County, your Sanford
family law case would typically still be filed with the Seminole County Court.
Now in those cases where one of the parents
resides in Sanford and the other party resides
outside Seminole County, the Sanford divorce
or other type of family law case would not
necessarily have to be filed in Seminole County,
but could be filed in Seminole County.
Our offices are located at 116 North Park Avenue in downtown Sanford, just steps from the
Seminole County Courthouse. Needless to say, having your Sanford divorce lawyer or Sanford
family law attorney so close to the Courthouse can be convenient for you, especially if you are
involved in a Sanford family law case in which many issues are being litigated.
And if the other side refuses to be reasonable regarding
your Sanford Family Law or Sanford Divorce case, we
will fully prepare your case and take it to Court
You should not have to face a family law or
divorce situation alone. If you need an
experienced Sanford Divorce Lawyer or Sanford
Family Law Attorney to help you with your case,
